Welcome to Rumble Village - A Centre for Conscious Dance!
Hello, hello and welcome to our latest iteration of rural dance community dreaming - A project with body, breadth, depth and heart, that's getting ready to pounce into the realms of reality, and is in the exciting stage of calling those keen to get involved, into it's orbit..
Deep breath... and here we go..
The idea of this project is to bring the nature of Rumble (and other similar style communities) to a living, breathing, connecting, dancing and caring community that would primarily offer an event space to various different groups and organisations running retreats and gatherings throughout the year, whilst also enable short and longer term guests to stay and live in the community.
The project would involve the acquisition of some kind of gorgeous large communal house and events space in the countryside with plenty of private and shared spaces for its short and longer-term guests to enjoy a quiet and peaceful lifestyle, whilst not feeling isolated and alone.
My vision is to group together with a number of like-minded investors who believe in creating this "Centre for Conscious Dance” as a profitable business, with clear guidelines and intentions that enable many people to get involved and benefit, visit or stay, whether short or longer term.
For anyone investing in a big or even the smallest way, they'd own a tangible share in the business, benefitting from multiple perks, opportunities and offerings and/or getting involved with decision-making on various levels, while celebrating all that this community-centred project would entail.
What is the current vision for this project to include?
-
Offer an accessible and welcoming retreat centre and events space that can host conscious gatherings of various sizes and styles, throughout the year.
-
Be accessible from the Southeast (say, less than 3 hours from London)
-
Be licensable for commercial use, to enable the property to host regular events
-
To have the potential to build / include at least 3 large group spaces that can host 50-100 people each
-
To be surrounded by nature - Direct access to green places to walk, to view, to immerse ourselves in nature
-
To welcome at least 5,000* visitors per year, to take part or get involved in some way at the centre
-
To offer Alcohol and Drug free events all year round
-
Space to eventually sleep up to 20 people indoors, in rooms / dorms / mobile homes / etc
-
Space to camp up to 200 people for a number of events over summer
-
To offer an annual programme of events, collaborations and opportunities that welcome anyone curious or keen to explore being human, through movement, togetherness and mutual support.
-
Catering facilities for up to 200 guests at peak season, and up to 50 more regularly
-
To develop and grow, with a clear set of principles as a guide, whilst hitting a reasonable financial target that enables the sustainability of the project through supporting it's shareholders
My dream is to together, create a place that is greater than any single person could possibly build or manage alone, yet somewhere that we can come into a presence with ourselves in the most wholesome and
independent way. As well as interested shareholders, this Centre would attract those working online, seeking a break from their solo or urban lifestyle or wanting the space and inspiration to develop their own personal projects, whilst dancing and sharing with others in community.
Are you curious to get involved?
Some Potential Community Principles
The following values reflect some possibilities for intentions we might choose as guidelines for living and working as part of this project. These guidelines would be confirmed and agreed by those core investors as the projects gets set up. Decisions made at all levels will then be informed by these principles to help members, guests and volunteers to ensure we have a shared sense of purpose and vision.
Living in Community
We choose to live in community with the aim of developing friendships and a sense of family and belonging.
We aim to resolve conflict through generosity and participation even when it's not so easy.
We participate in a sharing circle at least once a week and use various tools to help us in these processes.
Growing together
We are committed to our own personal journeys of self development and growth and we contribute to the community through weekly sharing and focus groups. We believe there are many forms and tools that can aid us on this journey and we are open to include as many as we can in every day life.
A Typical Day in the community (perhaps during busier times of the year) might include..
8am - 9.30am : Breakfast buffet
Breakfast served buffet style in dining room - includes muesli, toasts, spreads, yoghurts, fruit, nuts and more!
10am - 11am : Dancing and hugs!
Free-flow movement space with a wave of sounds to awaken, stir, activate, shake and move us to prepare for the day!
12.30pm - 1pm : Meditation and sharing
Short meditation followed by small group sharing circles (optional for all)
1pm - 2pm : Lunch buffet
Light lunch served buffet style in dining room - a selection of salads, soup, crackers, snacks and similar tasty treats
7pm : Dinner is served
Dinner served in communal dining room
8.30pm - 10pm : Evening activity
A range of activities such as singing, films, partner dancing, contact dancing, music jams, poetry, painting, campfire etc - We put the evening programme together as a community with each of us having the chance to hold the space for others and share our passions for what we love.
11pm : Let's be quiet
Whatever we do let's do it quietly as some people like to sleep. Other people don't of course..
FAQs
Where will this enchanting and magical place be?!
We are currently investigating options and looking in every direction.. The only thing we know is that the project will be accessible from London and the South East. If you are interested to know more, or to share your location dreams, please fill in our form to let us know!
Will the project be vegetarian?
Our shared meals will be veggy with vegan options, though if people choose to store and eat meat, then we'd have a separate fridge for that and we don't mind as we respect our differences as well as similarities!
Will project be Alcohol-Free?
We'd all be interested in living our lives with less or no desire for alcohol, however we also like the idea of not having a strict alcohol policy. For the moment, we may occasionally drink on special occasions, whilst we aim to be understanding and respectful of each other and our very personal relationships with alcohol.
Can I invest longer term and join the project ?
We are considering financing options at the moment, and are open to hearing from anyone keen to invest in Rumble Village and helping us to live this dream together. Please get in touch and let's discuss ideas!
